With his series “South Sombrio” photographer Jarod Luebbert shows us the silent beauty of the American West Coast, in a portrait of a four-month road trip up to British Columbia. With every picture, he taps on our shoulder, asking us to stop and look, because this is what photography is for him: “A love for pointing at the things around me”. Here he points at the light of dawn that ripples across the sea, at the sunset that looms over the clouds, at the sandy shoulders of his girlfriend Lea, “Who is not only very beautiful and sweet but for some reason willingly spent four months living out of a car with me, which I am very grateful for”. Luebbert approached photography at a young age, in his grandpa’s dark room, and he now uses it to preserve the moments he feels connected to.
