Australian photographer Donna Bailey is an observer. Cameras are, for her, a tool helping her represent the world. “Therefore, this involves always picturing my local landscape and the people that I know. Much of my early photography came from a maternal approach”, she tells us. Mother of a big family, her portraits, immersed into a universe made of vibrant colours, immortalise moving, tender, and amusing moments. “The experience has been positive for my children and myself”, she adds. Her three youngest have grown up around pictures, yet, her eldest was a fourteen year old girl when she started posing for her mother. “The process was a very organic one, for both of us”. Forged into a familial love, Donna’s images evoke nostalgia, identity or even femininity. The touching testimony of a women – both a mother and an artist.
