Wishing to promote the cultural practices of South Asia, the Rencontres d’Arles festival and Serendipity Arts Foundations – partnering with many cultural players adapted to the social, cultural and environmental background of the territory – have created the Serendipity Arles Grant. Its prize – 1,200,000 INR (about €15,000) – will be attributed to artists from Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhoutan, India, Myanmar, Nepal, Pakistan or Sri Lanka. “This region has become an exceptional creative center, which should be celebrated in our festival”, says Sam Stourdzé, director of the Rencontres.
How to participate?
The contest is open to photographers up to 45 years of age, who must be residents of countries mentioned above, for at least 5 years or more. To apply, you must fill out and submit an online form, and a PDF document before July, 7th. The PDF should include:
- Your biography
- CV
- Portfolio
- Personal proposal
- Letter of recommendation
A jury, composed of artists, authors, personalities and directors of foundations, will select 10 finalists. They will receive 70,000 INR (€800) each, and will be exhibited at the next edition of the Serendipity Arts Festival, which will take place in Goa, India.
The laureate will receive a 1,200,000 INR (€15,000) grant to finance their project, and will be exhibited at the 2022 Rencontres d’Arles Festival.
