When not working on a commission, Emma Hardy takes photos for herself. She takes out her 35mm camera and dwells in her everyday inspirations that create these intimate cliches of her family environment. When taking photos of her close ones, Emma not only is an observer who wants to stop time. Photography actively takes on the act, with each click, to capture ‘her’ moment. One only needs to fixate on her images to remark her presence : a shared look or smile, a spontaneous movement, an attitude, a bedhead… This intimate work is full of honesty. A certain instinct is triggered in Emma, discretely overshadowed by her uppermost emotions. A little bit like a fit of passion, an outburst of laughter that overcomes us with emotion when shared. Emma captured people shown in the photos bellow, with a certain grace; squeezing out truth and bare emotion.
