Stavros Stamatiou’s photographs take us into his fantastic world, filled with disturbing creatures. A world where truth seems altered, becoming secretive, threatening. ‘This series is an attempt to explore the extraordinary. To expose what was hidden from the light, to confront my childhood’s phobias and exorcise them’, the photographer explains. The grim pictures immerse us into a troubling obscurity. In the dark, silhouettes become monstrous, and animals turn into demons. A lonely wandering in a forest, whose heavy silence is only broken by the cry of Edgar Allan Poe’s crow.
