Kovi Konowiecki : "Delivering flowers to Grandpa Jack"

Kovi Konowiecki est né à Long Beach, en Californie. Ses parents vivent toujours dans la maison où il a grandi. Le photographe voyage beaucoup mais lorsqu’il retourne dans sa ville natale, il est submergé par les mêmes émotions du passé : « Les amis d’enfance semblent toujours se retrouver au même coin de rue; la même lumière dorée frappe les toitures avant le coucher du soleil. Long Beach est loin d’être une petite ville, mais pour moi c’est tout comme. » Avec Delivering flowers to Grandpa Jack, Kovi Konowiecki rend hommage aux souvenirs du passé, aux impressions immuables que l’enfance trace pour toute la vie. Dans cette série, le photographe mêle ses propres archives familiales aux images récentes. Si bien qu’on ne saurait deviner exactement quelles sont les photos de famille et quelles sont les nouvelles. À quelle époque sommes-nous ? Kovi Konowiecki fait en sorte que nous ne puissions pas répondre à cette question. Il jette une sorte de trouble. Est-ce aujourd’hui ou est-ce hier ? Delivering flowers to Grandpa Jack est un travail qui tient toute sa force dans l’intemporalité.
