Kenta Nakamura : “Mitsugetsu”

Kenta Nakamura is a young Japanese photographer who created the series ‘Mitsugetsu’. He met this elderly lady in 2012 and since then have established a photographic relationship. The series follows the journey of the intimate liaison between a camera, a photographer and an elderly lady. These photographes enable an understanding of the trials and tribulations of aging through her many portraits that capture all aspects of the women’s personality. His pictures are a reminder that one never looses their ‘inner child’. Through this series a sense of rebellion and freedom, but also loneliness and weakness emerge from one image to the other of this lady. Kenta Nakamura explores the stereotypes of age and it’s limitations and uses his camera to change these perceptions. He declares ‘It is not about age or physical outline, I use my own sense of beauty’. This photographer is trying to establish how beauty can be visible at any age through a laugh, a gesture, and how age is only a number.
