Through her series Origins, American photographer Rachel Jump, 26, recreates her past. In front of her camera, members of her family replay strong moments, touchant memories of her past. “My photographs submit to the malleable nature of memory”, the artist explains. “They describe how personal relationships are impacted by suppressed familial occurrences. My narration is an attempt to demonstrate my longing for familial intimacy and reconciliation”. The black and white pictures illustrate a poetic quest, turned towards empathy and fondness.
