36-year-old Spanish photographer Jose Javier, aka Yosigo, is based in Barcelona. After training to be a graphic designer, the artist turned to photography, to seek more freedom. “I was tired of spending many hours in front of a computer… I guess taking a camera saved me”, Yosigo tells us. Fascinated by the architecture of buildings, their colours and construction, the photographer captures skyscrapers from all over the world. His approach? “I try to compose the images in the most beautiful way possible. Minimising the scene to the maximum and showing only the essentials”, he says. Influenced by Stephen Shore’s images, and his way of enhancing the beauty of the ordinary, Yosigo transforms concrete constructions into pictorial creations, reminiscent of the cubist movement. A beautiful, geometric and colourful work.
